Must Know Tips in Thai Dating
If you’re dating someone that came from a different culture, it is always important to know more about the culture and the person at the same time. Everyone, including you, behaves according to your culture and known values. The person from another culture might have some values that are totally different or even contradicting than what you believe. That is why it is important to learn and study about the culture while you develop a personal relationship with someone different from you. You may share the same passion for each other but that could be hindered if you don’t exert an extra effort in knowing more about the person you like.
Dating someone from Thailand or has a Thai heritage is the same as dating someone in your culture. But that doesn’t mean you can just do whatever you do in front of that person. There are certain Thai values that you need to remember at all times. It could be awkward for you at the start but the sooner you realize this, the better. Eventually, you will see the beauty of their culture, learn to adapt on it and establish a better relationship with someone you value.
The Asian Culture
Thai, like most Asian countries, value two things: their family and faith. Their family is very important to them that oftentimes, they will opt to live with their parents even after their legal age. It’s not that they can’t support themselves but they opt to live with their parents so that their earnings will be used to spend on monthly expenses. You will even see sometimes that all of their monthly earnings will be spent considerably for their parents and younger brothers and sisters so that they could study.
Aside from the family, their religion is also highly valued. In Thailand, the dominant religion is Buddhism and most likely you are dating a Thai with that religion. They have a healthy respect for your religion and they are also expecting the same. Like most Asian countries, they value their religion and would be very faithful in keeping up with the traditional practices.
Conservative Culture
The Thai culture is also known for being conservative. This is largely based on their religion where it is forbidden to have sexual intimacy before marriage. They have a high regard for virginity and would only share this gift to someone they love. If you are in Thailand, it’s most likely that you will be with someone and your intimacy is largely on holding hands and just being together.
Family Culture
Their dedication to their parents is not only limited in giving them money. They also want to assure their parents that they are on better hands with you. Don’t be surprised, even if you’re not in Thailand, that you will be introduced to the parents early in the relationship. Most of them are not expecting eventual marriage immediately but they just wanted to assure their parents of their safety. It’s also their way of knowing you up close and personal.
